Activate Your Metabolism With Low Carb

Are you thinking about a low carb diet?  Several excellant diet plans are based on this research .  Atkins and South Beach are both diets which keep track of carbs.  This results in a positive ketosis fat loss diet.

The theory behind a limited carb diet is that your body will burn fat rather than carbohydrates if you deprive it of almost all carbohydrate sources.  This may mean limiting your carb intake to as low as 20 grams in some cases like the initialt phase early in the program.  Most of the time you will be taking in a more moderate amount of carbs.

Normally, the carbohydrates in food are converted into glucose. The glucose is then transported through the body and is particularly key in fuelling the brain. However, if there are very little carbs in the diet, the liver breaks down fat into fatty acids and ketone bodies. The ketone bodies move into the brain and substitute for glucose as an fuel . Thus, the body thenproduces ketone bodies—a state known as ketosis.

Low Carb diets take advantage of this state of ketosis.  Since cells in the body can use ketones for energy instead of glucose, and since ketones are easier to produce, less glucose is created.  In other words, ketosis is the primary process in this case. Diets low in starches and sugars do not directly affect blood sugar levels significantly, and meals tend to have lessdirect effect on insulin levels.  These diets tend to minimize insulin production in general.  

In addition , many experts argue that a ketosis diet is more like the diet our bodies have evolved to use .  Before the advent of agriculture just a few thousand years ago, the human body had millions of years of evolution which selected for a hunter gather lifestyle.  Hunter gatherers had minimal carbs in their diets.  They may have had the original ketosis diet.

Dr. Robert Atkins first wrote the Atkins Diet Revolution in 1972 which set off the current round of low carb dieting.  Initially , its appeal was limited because some scientists and doctors condemned it.  Over time, though, it gained credibility and when he re-issuedt the book as Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, the public was very excited .

Soon other low carb programs appeared.  These included the popular South Beach diet, Zone diet, and Protein Power....

While the government still supports the low fat bandwagon diet, they have started to make recommendations that people lower the amount of carbohydrates in their diets.  The medical community has increased the importance of fiber in our diets and recommended that children not drink juice or soda on a regular basis.  Adults too can benefit from substituting tea since the green tea fat burner effects improve their weight reduction efforts.

While the popularity of ketosis diets peaked in 2004, there are still many adherents .  That’s because, for many people, low carb diets produce when nothing else has before.

There has been a lot of research on low carb diets.  There are many studies which show it works and some studies which show that it is dangerous.  Because of these competing studies, advocates on both sides can pull up evidence that they are right.  Statistics can  be bent to support any argument.

Once you do your due diligence, you will be better able to decide whether to pursue a low carb diet.   The one unalterable fact is the successful diet is one where you burn more calories than you take in.  By watching what you eat, and perhaps supplementing when necessary with ingredients that help the fat burning process, like the green tea fat burner,  you can achieve your weight loss goal.
