What Everybody Should Know About Adultery According To The Bible

All of us live in difficult times. That much is true. Think about it, all of us live in a time when the globe is trying to change everything that was set down by the Lord thousands of years ago. Morals and standards have evolved a lot since the time of Moses and also Abraham. People are more open, a lot more liberated, than they were during the time of kings as well as pharaohs. Simply put, we live in a very different world nowadays.

There was a time when God called Moses to the mountain to claim His 10 commandments. Moses shared and explained to his people these commandments, so that they could live their lives according to God’s will and plan, and in the service of the Lord. One of these commandments read, “Thou shall not commit adultery.” It had been clear how God stood on the subject.

The Bible verses tell us this story. God does not favor adultery. He commands us to step away from it, to steer clear of its temptations. However modern day society is telling us a different story. Along with everything going on in the media nowadays, what they show on TV, what they air in the radio, what they film in the movies, lots of things does not get along well with God’s commandment and just what the Bible verses are stating about adultery.

So who do you listen to? A commandment from thousands of year ago? Or perhaps this particular trend of the modern day world? Whose whisper echoes the loudest?

Let us have a look at some of the most famous Bible verses that speak about adultery.

“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery’ but I tell you that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart” (Matthew 5:27-28)

“He said to them, ‘Whoever divorces his wife, and marries another, commits adultery against her. If a woman herself divorces her husband, and marries another, she commits adultery.’” (Mark 10:11-12)

“’Foods for the belly, and the belly for foods,’ but God will bring to nothing both it and them. But the body is not for sexual immorality, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body.” (1 Corinthians 6:13)

“Don’t you know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them members of a prostitute? May it never be!” (1 Corinthians 6:15)

The actual Bible verses discuss adultery in many forms. Lusting after a woman is already carrying out adultery in the heart. Divorce is also a form of adultery. If you look at it this way, then adultery is very much widespread in modern-day society.

However the Holy bible also says this about adultery: that our bodies are members of Christ, and that we should not put it to disgrace by carrying out adultery. God’s commandment holds – we should not commit any type of adultery. To do so would be to put God and His name in vain.
